Feeling the wind in your hair, everywhere.
They say being naked is the ultimate freedom, and really, where better to be free than near the sand and sea? Here are five beaches that are clothing optional, naturist friendly, however you want to call it. Just don’t forget your sunscreen!
Paradise Beach, Mykonos
Mykonos is a Greek island that’s known for its vibrant nightlife and for being a gay-friendly destination. Greece is known for its clothing-optional beaches, though almost all of them are not official nude beaches. So before you de-robe, be sure to check, with a local if you can. Paradise Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach that’s nudist-friendly, though in recent times, that usually means topless-friendly as there can be a fair share of families on this beach. On this beach are also water sports and diving facilities.

Tahiti Plage, St Tropez
Ah, St Tropez, known for celebrity spotting, nightlife, and its beaches. One in particular, Tahiti Plage that sits on the Pampelonne, popularised by the film And God Created Woman starring Bridgette Bardot, is still clothing optional, and touted by travellers as a must-have on your itinerary if you’re in the area. We hear that there are formal nudist colonies nearby if you really want to go full commando without any sneers.

We all know that Croatia is home to some of the most beautiful pebbled beaches, that gives way to shiny clear waters, as there is less silt on the seabed to be churned up. For those in the know, Valalta is often claimed to be a real haven for naturist lovers. It is part of the Valalta Naturist Camp, and on the beach are also restaurants, bars, and water activities.

Praia da Galheta, Brazil
Located in Florianopolis, in the very south of Brazil and arguably home to some of the best beaches in the country, is Praia da Galheta, that has been popular with naturists since the 70s. Despite what you may think, clothing option beaches in Brazil are still relatively rare. There are nudist and clothed parts of the beach, so be sure to check which part you are in, as you may be frowned upon being in your swim suits and vice versa. On the positive, Praia da Galheta is hidden from the main road behind high hills, so you’ll be well away from the eyes of the world.

Bellevue Beach, Denmark
We know that Denmark doesn’t immediately strike you as a beach destination, but Denmark has a long coastline, and you’re never too far from a beach in this Scandinavian country. A liberal attitude towards nudism also means that many of Denmark’s beaches are clothing optional. Full all days of summer, young people from all over Europe flock to this nude-friendly beach in Denmark as soon as the sun is out. Clean waters and fine soft sand also make Bellevue Beach one of the most beautiful Danish beaches. There are two ends of the beach, a nude and a clothed one; don’t be naked on the wrong side!
